Correctional Institutions' Role in NAIScholars

Overview

The NAIScholars is seeking partnerships with correctional institutions to elevate your access to educational opportunities for your population of incarcerated individuals. With your help of providing NAIScholars resources to your prison population and coordinating applications, we will offer qualified applicants membership in two tiers: students and scholars.

Whether applicants are just starting their education journey or have obtained a post-secondary degree, there is a place for them with the NAIScholars. They can either benefit from specialized curricula as students, or develop education plans and serve as Teaching Assistants as scholars. We aim to increase educational opportunities, create a compassionate community of understanding individuals, and emphasize the quality of life and recidivism benefits from education.

Benefits

As a correctional institution, you receive several benefits from partnering with the NAIScholars including:

   •    Access to a structured, educator-supported academic association that expands educational opportunities within your facility

   •    Strengthened peer mentorship and community within your prison population, and a greater sense of fulfillment for both students and scholars

   •    Increased trust between your institution and incarcerated population

   •    Alignment with reentry: Educated incarcerated people are 43% less likely to return to prison in three years, according to RAND Corporation.

Goals and Contact

Our goal is to foster a positive environment within institutions while also encouraging the development of professional, leadership, and social skills. Through partnership with the NAIScholars, your institution will benefit from an academic environment, leadership development, and reentry orientation.
